Professor. Salvatore Coppola, historian and lawyer, teaches Italian at the high school in Madrid.
In the past, was deeply devoted to the study of trade union and political issue of Salento, his homeland.
In this latest publication, edited by Siddhartha Methta, the subject is of local interest as it explores a broader issue that involves 4 European states during the crucial period of nationalism, the Second World War and the racial laws.

The peculiarity of his book is on two aspects: the original point of view, the diplomats of the countries involved, and the experiment publishing a English edition in Italian in English with songs that bring the authentic sources. Well, an experiment that works, surely thanks to his meticulous style, passionate and outspoken. In the essay

emerge diplomatic strategies of the governments of the time.
Professor. Coppola gives us a clear political position of the Holy See, revealing backstage choices of Pius XI and Pius XII before the regime Fascist, Nazi and Francoist. In addition, this policy framework are organized into associative entities such as Catholic Action and the Catholic Society of Jesus explaining their influence and because governments deem it necessary, referred to their abolition. This method analyzes the instrument of international law as agreed between the Vatican and each of the other governments.
The analysis concludes by addressing the thorny issue of the encyclical of Pius XI was never published and that perhaps he could change the course of history and the Holocaust.
